Why You Should Plan Your Landscape Project in Winter

Even though winter can be host hostile weather in some areas, landscape designers still agree it's the perfect time to start planning your landscape project.

Planning your landscape project in winter give you more time to explore, budget and finalize what you want to do with your outdoor living space.

3 Reasons to Plan Your Landscape Project in Winter

  1. Time to Plan and Refine

Every landscape project, including small ones like stand-alone patios and large ones like complete outdoor renovations, needs to be planned. Because a landscape project will be part of your land for many years, planning it thoughtfully gives you the best change of the most enjoyable use of your space.
For instance, you'll have the time to have the plan rendered in 3D so you can see how it would turn out if the plan was built. You can then revise the plan and renderings until it will come out perfect. What we do is take property photos and design plans and create a 3 dimensional, photo-realistic 3D image that shows exactly how the project will come out. We use this image to help you perfect the living space and the plan to build it before building. Starting in winter gives us the time needed to plan with feeling time pressure.
  2. Time to Secure Permits

Many landscape projects require permits. Planning your project in winter provides the time to get those permits, engineering specs and other paperwork in advance so your project can be completed on time.
  3. Time to do the Design

In spring, Landscape designers become really busy. That's because they get hired to work on jobs that that are being built during spring, summer and fall. In winter, Landscape Designers are Available. Waiting until they're busy could postpone your project until late summer or even the following year.

As the saying goes, "The early bird gets the worm." The best play is to hire your landscape designer when they are available in winter. You'll have enough time to plan and perfect the design in a relaxed manner, secure the permits and have your designers attention when they're available.
